Hijas De La Fresa

Miriam and Donna Olivera, the owners of Hijas de la Fresa (Daughters of the Strawberry), embody a profound connection to their family's agricultural legacy. For them, the name reflects their upbringing deeply rooted in the strawberry business, where their parents invested years of dedication. They have grown many varieties of produce, but have decided to specialize in strawberries.

They're conventional, sustainable, we use integrative pest management: choose varieties that are disease resistant, use compost, have done cover crop when time allows. We use cultural practices reduce dust and minimizing pests that harbor, use bug vacuums. We use pollinator plantings, plant pest deterrents. We extend our season with cutbacks whenever possible, it reduces resource use. We use beneficial plants and insects as our first line of defense.
